Mechanical Engineer

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to play a critical role in the design, development, and optimisation of our electrochemical stack and components for our hydrogen electrolyser products.

The Position and Role Responsibilities

  • Design, model, and analyse mechanical components for hydrogen electrolysers.
  • Develop new test systems and run testing programmes delivering analysis and interpretation of results.
  • Support prototype development, testing, and troubleshooting, ensuring designs translate effectively into manufacturable products.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and contractors to ensure component quality and cost effectiveness.
  • Contribute to system integration, installation, and maintenance strategies with a focus on durability, safety, and performance.
  • Prepare technical documentation including drawings, BOMs, specifications, and test reports.
  • Assist in product fault diagnosis for manufacturing/test issues.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies, materials, and best practices in hydrogen and clean energy applications.
  • Support other engineering activities as required.

Person Specification - Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Good knowledge of mechanical engineering principles.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to convey technical information effectively.
  • Experienced CAD user (SolidWorks preferred).
  • FEA experience desirable.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, hands-on approach, and attention to detail.
  • Minimum 3 years engineering experience.
  • Experience working with high pressure systems is advantageous.
  • Experience in the development of mechanical/electromechanical products.
  • Experience in hydrogen systems, electrolysers, or fuel cell technology advantageous.
  • An understanding of risk management (FMEA).
  • Understanding of safety standards related to hydrogen handling and high pressure systems is desirable. HAZOPS experience.
