The Position and Role Responsibilities
- Design, model, and analyse mechanical components for hydrogen electrolysers.
- Develop new test systems and run testing programmes delivering analysis and interpretation of results.
- Support prototype development, testing, and troubleshooting, ensuring designs translate effectively into manufacturable products.
- Collaborate with suppliers and contractors to ensure component quality and cost effectiveness.
- Contribute to system integration, installation, and maintenance strategies with a focus on durability, safety, and performance.
- Prepare technical documentation including drawings, BOMs, specifications, and test reports.
- Assist in product fault diagnosis for manufacturing/test issues.
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies, materials, and best practices in hydrogen and clean energy applications.
- Support other engineering activities as required.
Person Specification - Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Good knowledge of mechanical engineering principles.
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to convey technical information effectively.
- Experienced CAD user (SolidWorks preferred).
- FEA experience desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills, hands-on approach, and attention to detail.
- Minimum 3 years engineering experience.
- Experience working with high pressure systems is advantageous.
- Experience in the development of mechanical/electromechanical products.
- Experience in hydrogen systems, electrolysers, or fuel cell technology advantageous.
- An understanding of risk management (FMEA).
- Understanding of safety standards related to hydrogen handling and high pressure systems is desirable. HAZOPS experience.
