What does Oort Energy Do?
Oort Energy designs and manufactures high-efficiency Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyser stacks and systems. Our advanced technology reduces the cost of hydrogen production while maintaining high performance and durability, making green hydrogen more accessible and commercially viable.
Why is green hydrogen important?
Green hydrogen, produced using renewable energy sources such as solar or wind, is essential for decarbonising hard-to-abate sectors like heavy industry, transport, and energy storage. Unlike grey hydrogen, which is derived from fossil fuels, green hydrogen generates no carbon emissions, helping accelerate the transition to net-zero. Oort Energy’s electrolysers are ideal for a range of applications, including chemical and fertiliser production, industrial decarbonisation, grid balancing and energy storage.

Oort Energy’s electrolyser stack is the most cost-efficient and high-performance solution commercially available. Our proprietary innovations in coatings and catalyst-coated membranes, combined with a radical redesign optimised for mass manufacturing, have enabled us to deliver unmatched efficiency and cost savings.
How does Oort Energy reduce the cost of Green Hydrogen?
We have optimised our electrolyser technology to significantly reduce both operational (OPEX) and capital (CAPEX) costs. By improving system efficiency and durability, we can deliver a low levelised cost of hydrogen (LCOH) today. Our roadmap focuses on further cost reductions to make green hydrogen cost-competitive with grey hydrogen in the coming years.
